Cheryl, haha! You’re half right! Firstly, I am a true cinephile, so I get a perverse pleasure from the actual process of movie acquisition (if that makes any sense). I’ve been slowly and steadily collecting my favourite movies on DVD for the last ten years, which involves a lot of research/surfing. I also get sent titles from companies as well, some which I choose, others they select. I’m a cine-exhibitionist, so I like to have the DVD covers on display (ie I don’t store them without covers in giant DVD wallets), which means my apartment is rapidly running out of room for movie storage! In fact, I need to do a stock-take very soon and cull some of the titles! I’m in a perpetual refining of my collection, creating what I think is a particularly sensational selection of cinema, albeit one that reflects my own sensibilities. You’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg, so to speak …

Hey Bruno, how do you keep finding these gems? I’m picturing you in a living room with bookshelves overloaded with thousands of wonderful DVDs all sent to you by film companies wanting you review them I think I’ll have to see this just because the idea is, as Natalina said, so whimsical! Anon might be right, it may be Charlie in drag.

Anon, well, I checked out a youtube clip of the director, Sophie Barthes, at Sundance I think, explaining (in what I think could be a Russian accent) that she wasn’t stealing ideas from Charlie … Hey, it could be an elaborate hoax ….? I like your suggestion.
