I didn't fancy the idea of George doing Solaris either, but I was pleasantly surprised. Soderbergh imbues the movie with some nice touches. McElhrone is good too, and so is Jeremy Davies as one of the unhinged scientists. Yeah, give it a squizz

The first time I saw this movie was many moons ago when I was dragged along by a friend to her new boyfriend's house. I was feeling really third wheel-ish and just grabbed a movie off of his shelf and popped it in. This is the one I chose. When it was over, I boldly asked him if I could have it, and he gave it to me. I still have that copy.

I actually have the remake sitting by my bed, waiting to be watched, but I can't bring myself to imagine George Clooney playing the part. I better get past it and watch it, yes?

Natalina, I was wondering whether you'd seen this one. This was actually one of my early foreign film experiences, catching it on late night television ("World Cinema") when I was in my early teens. I'd missed the beginning and came in on the long car journey sequence (along the highways of Tokyo, a metaphor for futurism). Yeah, Stalker is post-apocalyptic, very little dialogue, very existential; three men travel into a "zone" where an alien craft had landed and it's how it affects them, pretty much.
Glad you liked the review, I really enjoyed writing this one. Have you seen the remake? Worth a look.

Yes yes yes. This is one of my favorites! What an experience. I'm so emotional about this movie.

I don't think I've seen any of his other films. But I believe I've heard of Stalker. Is that a sort of post-apocalyptic, artsy adventure movie? I'm pretty sure I wanted to see it at one time.

"...but intelligent alien life may very well be our psychic undoing."

Precisely. Well done.
