Hi Deni,
It's a shame that many of Ferrara's films suffer terribly from distribution problems. This one being one of the most afflicted. I had to source this DVD from Mexico (!) after a long search online. I was never a fan of the movie version of Interview with the Vampire, being a huge fan of the novel (which I read first), it didn't come close. Rice's original choices back when it was going to get made in the mid-80s was Rutger Hauer as Lestat and Eric Roberts as Louis. Now that would have been fantastic! Let the Right One In is brilliant. The novel is superb also (I read that after). And yes, Chris Walken ... he could read the phone book and I'd be entranced.

This is the best review I've read on this film. I really liked this movie. I like these kinds of Vampire movies, along with "Let The Right One In" and "Interview With A Vampire" that explore the inner psyche more so than the movies where all that's to be done is getting a good "blood suck".

I love Lili Taylor but Christopher Walken's performance and character was absolutely brilliant. I've only seen this movie once but I remember Peina being deliciously ironic. I recall him telling Kathleen to "blend in". We're all vampire but the one thing which separates us from the evil ones is our "restraint".

Hey Natalina, I was curious as to whether you'd seen or heard of this. Many of Ferrara's movies suffer from poor distribution, and The Addiction is unavailable on DVD in the States (I got mine from Spain). Yes, this will be right up your alley, and I thought of Cheryl too when I wrote this ...

Why the heck have I never heard of this? Sounds wonderfully dark and poignant. Truly sounds like my kind of movie with the twist on a familiar mythology combined with social awareness. And who doesn't love Christopher Walken? I wonder if Cheryl has seen this. I'll have to make sure she reads this review.

Great job.
