Sean Penn was so incredible in Carlito's Way. I agree, he's unrecognizable. Perhaps one day I should rank all of the performances of his I've seen in order. He already has the distinction of holding the spot of 3 out of my top 5 favorite film performances :)

Found it! Aha! I knew I owned Blow Out. Sheesh, I had it camped in my Film Noir/Film Soleil (gangsters, cowboys, crooks and killers) section, when I thought I had it in my Drama/Thriller section. I'll review it upon my return from America.

I'm quietly ashamed to say I don't as yet own Blow Out on DVD. Why? I have no idea. Suffice to say I will be purchasing it pronto, as it is one of my top three favourite De Palma movies (Scarface and Dressed to Kill being the other two, although Carlito's Way might edge out Dressed to Kill more often than not). Maybe I did have it and I've lent it out and it never came back ... Hmmmm. I hate not knowing.

Great Bruno! How interesting. As I was reading this, I was wracking my brain trying to think if I've ever seen an interview with him. I don't think I have but it makes sense as you point out that he's not too big on talking. Which is too bad because some of his quotes you've listed here are great. I especially love his quote about filming women. Hell, I'd rather see a woman walking around with a candelabra, too.

I would love to see a review of Blow Out. What a great film that pretty much no one that I've spoken with has ever seen.
