Natalina,
Yes the light shade had been swamping me of light, but I'm edging back into the dark sunshine ... You most certainly need to watch this again if your memory isn't serving you that well. This is cracking horror filmmaking, with great sf ideas to boot (ie when they discover what Blair's been up to in a cavern he's dug ...). No doubt the prequel will feature a plethora of CGI effects. Ho bloody hum. I still remember my friend and I orchestrating getting his father to take us to this movie as it was restricted to 16 and over (Content May Disturb) and we were 13. We knew it was gonna kick ass and we needed to be there for it!

Mr. Dante, I was beginning to wonder if you'd crawled out of the dark sunshine and into the cool shade. Thank goodness you've returned. And of course, I've no room to talk I just posted for the first time in almost 2 weeks!

Funny you should post this review I was just discussing this film with a friend yesterday. He rates it near the top of his all time favorite films. I sheepishly will admit that I don't remember much of it as I haven't seen it in YEARS, but I recall that it was great and I'll have to give it a peek again in the very near future.
